I’m invited over to my Peruvian friend’s house to have some “Roscón de Reyes” today. A roscón is a pastry that is very typical in Spain over Christmas. It’s normally eaten on January 6th, the day of The Wise Men (Los Reyes Magos) and you eat it with your family or with your friends, either as breakfast or an afternoon snack.
It’s round and is a cake filled with cream or marzipan, decorated with glazed fruit or just frosted with sugar. Inside they also hide two things; a figure and a bean. The one that gets the bean will have to pay for next year’s roscón and the one finding the figure will be “king for a day”.
